About Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki:
Fifty years ago The Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society.
To punish the guilty, he created the Hole, a place where sinners are branded according to their sins. Sinners are forced to live a less than human existence in deplorable conditions, under the watchful eye of guards who are ready to kill anyone who steps out of line.
Now, LUST wraps around my neck like thick, blue fingers, threatening to choke the life out of me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit, and the Hole is my new home.
Brutal and savage violence.
Every day is a fight for survival.
But I won’t let them win. I will not die in the Hole.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter. My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.
I am fangirling all over the book Branded! Upon getting the book, I read it nonstop and had to set aside one of my favorite series just because I had to finish Branded. Now I know that Branded is going to be one of my new favorite series. The continuous book read is bittersweet! I wanted to read it right away in its entirety because it is just that good, but now I have to wait for the next book to be released.
Why should you read this book?
Branded is intriguing, thought-provoking, exciting and it just absolutely sucks you in whole. The character development draws you in so that you get attached to the characters’ lives and are desperate to know what the future holds. In the story, the main characters, Lexi and Cole, have been brought together because of difficult circumstances and it is inspiring to see the humanity in their relationship with each other and their drive to survive in this dystopian world.
The plot and story development are fascinating with surprises that keep you guessing. While the complete background of Lexi’s story may not be presented at the beginning, you are able to follow the plot progression while many questions are answered throughout.
Branded leaves you yearning for more. Some stories are okay and even good, but that does not mean that you need to continue the story. With Lexi and Cole, you (or at least I) need to read the rest of the story. So my question now is when will book 2 be released?
